Maluti Wanderer 2018

11 Day Steam Safari Sunday 11. November - Wednesday 21. November . Every steam operated day we will have different photo-stops and run-pasts.

We will use the following steam locomotive classes during this tour: 25NC 3437 / 15F 3046

Day 1: Our train departs in the early morning in direction Freestate. We arrive in the early evening in Kimberley. Day 2: Today we visit the Kimberley Big Hole Museum and the old steam Yard in Beaconsfield. Enjoy a night photo shoot at the Kimberley steam base of Steamnet 2000.  Day 3: Before sunrise we start our journey from Kimberley in direction Bloemfontein, and from Bloemfontein we return with the evening light to Kimberley. Today's steam engine is 25NC 3437  Day 4: Early morning departure to Bloemfontein, many photo and video stops/ run-pasts Day 5: Today we are travel the section from Bloemfontein to Modderpoort, a beautiful landscape following each side of the track Day 6: Intensive photo and video session in the early morning at Modderpoort, later we head to Ficksburg. After we arrived in Ficksburg and the engines where serviced. This night we stay over in Ficksburg Day 7: Enjoy the Cherry Festival in Ficksburg or optional a excursion to Lesotho, enjoy a scenic trip up to the impressive Katse Dam.  Day 8: Steam Train from Ficksburg to Vailima, where we change over to the Sandstone Estates Steam Railway, enjoy the world largest narrow gauge collection, In the afternoon our steam train departs from Vailima to Generaalsnek where we stay over for the night  Day 9: Steam train from Generaalsnek to Bethlehem, many photo opportunities Day 10: Early morning photo session at the old steam depot Bethlehem, then we will dislocate to Clarens a picturesque village with lots of art galleries and shops, before we return to the train we will enjoy a big cat safari. Day 11: Today we leave Bethlehem in Direction Germiston, probably we have to use electric traction for this section (Rail access rules). At the late afternoon we will arrive in Germiston, photo shooting while shunting and loco servicing
